Hilary Hughes Brownlow
Educational Advocate, Somatic Coach, Teacher, and mother of three children with learning differences

I am a passionate advocate for special education and children’s rights in education. With over 24 years dedicated to public education, my journey began in the elementary education classroom where I discovered my calling.  As an elementary teacher specializing in working with children diagnosed with dyslexia, autism, and severe behavioral needs, I have honed my skills to support students with specific learning disabilities in special education.  Throughout my career, I’ve served as a behavior interventionist, special education coordinator, adjunct professor, trauma-informed facilitator, and student mental health provider. My experience as a teacher trainer and coach has equipped me to empower educators and families alike.  Being a mother of three children with specific learning disabilities, I intimately understand the challenges families face navigating the complex landscape of special education services. My role extends beyond advocacy; it is about ensuring that your child receives the support they need to thrive academically and emotionally. I specialize as a somatic coach, assisting parents and children in managing emotions during the adjustment to life changes that come with having a student with learning differences. I incorporate somatic exercises into children’s daily routines, nurturing families, and helping children with disabilities develop into their best selves.

My educational journey includes a Bachelor’s in Education with a Reading Endorsement, a Master’s in Educational Leadership, which has deepened my expertise and fueled my commitment to advocating for children with disabilities. I am an active member of the Council of Parent Attorney Advocates (COPAA), contributing to advocacy efforts for students with disabilities and their families.  Rooted in faith, my values drive the mission of my company. I believe in advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves and ensuring that every child’s educational rights are upheld. My goal is to guide families through the IEP process, ensuring that the educational services provided align with district policies, state regulations, and federal law to meet your child’s unique needs.  If you’re navigating challenges within the education system or seeking support for your child’s educational journey, including counseling for parents and students with learning disabilities, I am here to provide expert guidance and advocacy. Together, we can work towards positive outcomes and empower your child to reach their full potential.

Hilary picked me up during a time in my parenting when I needed someone like her most. My daughter was diagnosed with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and ADHD. At the time, I didn’t understand what any of this meant, nor did I know how to move forward to get my daughter the right help for her to be successful. Hilary walked my husband and I through every single step of the process in advocating for our girl and I owe everything to her for this. Our daughter is now thriving and this would not be the case without Hilary. To say she is a Godsend is an understatement.

I am so thankful that I had Hilary advocate for my daughter. She recognized her needs as a student with Dyslexia and made sure the school district did everything they could do to support her unique learning style. Following her advice to move my daughter from a 504 plan into SPED for her Dyslexia intervention was the best decision we ever made. She finally feels successful and capable at school.
